Mary Seccomb
Licensed previsionary Therapist
My name is Mary Seccomb, and I am a Professional Candidate and a Marriage Family Candidate with experience in the field of mental health and therapy. I am passionate about helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life's challenges and achieve mental, emotional, and relational well-being.
Early Influences and Education
Growing up, I was always drawn to understanding people—their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. This curiosity led me to pursue a degree in Early Childhood from Western Montana college, where I first realized the power of family interactions throughout one’s life.
After completing my undergraduate degree, I continued my academic journey at North Central University, where I earned a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, during my graduate studies, I was fortunate to gain practical experience through internships and supervised clinical hours, working with diverse populations facing various mental health and relational challenges. This hands-on experience deepened my desire to pursue a career where I could directly support individuals and families in their healing and growth.
Professional Journey
Since completing my education at North Central university, I have been working at Deep Roots Counseling. My work has involved providing therapy to individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and relationship difficulties. I am also experienced in helping couples improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen their relationships, and I work with families to address dynamics, parenting concerns, and adolescent challenges.
Therapeutic Approaches
In my practice, I draw upon a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and systems theory, to address the diverse needs of my clients. I also integrate mindfulness practices and trauma-informed care into my work, as I believe they offer powerful tools for healing and growth.
One of the greatest rewards of my profession is witnessing clients make progress and achieve personal goals. Whether it’s seeing someone overcome long-held fears, strengthening the bond between partners, or helping a family better understand each other’s perspectives, I am continually inspired by the resilience and capacity for change in the people I work with.
Continuing Education and Professional Development
I am committed to ongoing professional development and continuously seek out opportunities to expand my knowledge and skills. I regularly attend workshops, conferences, and training sessions to stay current with the latest research and therapeutic techniques.
Conclusion
Looking ahead, I am excited to continue my work as an LCPC and MFTC, supporting individuals and families on their paths to healing and growth. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of those I serve, and I remain committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based therapy that fosters lasting change.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I am honored to be part of the mental health community and to play a role in helping others lead more fulfilling lives.

Courtney Berge
Licensed Mental Health Therapist and Addictions Counselor
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Addictions Counselor with a deep commitment to serving individuals with co-occurring disorders, severe disabling mental illness (SDMI), and those in crisis. I began my educational journey with a Master’s degree in Psychology, specializing in Forensics, from the University of the Rockies in 2012. Driven by a passion for helping others through critical moments, I returned to school to complete a second Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Crisis Intervention in 2014.
My career in mental health began in Lewiston, Maine, where I worked as a counselor at a Juvenile Behavioral Group Home. After returning to Montana in 2012, I joined Western Montana Mental Health and the Butte Public Housing Authority as an Adult Case Manager, supporting SDMI clients. I later became the Residential Program Manager, overseeing adult foster homes and group homes while also completing my clinical internship at the Butte Detention Center.
Over the years, I’ve held diverse roles that reflect my dedication to vulnerable populations. I served as a CSCT therapist for AWARE at Ramsay Elementary, working closely with at-risk youth. In 2020, I joined CCCS at the START Program and was promoted to Assistant Clinical Director. During this time, I also operated a private practice and worked weekends as a Crisis Response Therapist (CRT) in the Butte, Anaconda, and Dillon areas, supporting individuals in acute mental health crises.
Two years ago, I joined Deep Roots Counseling after a personal outreach from Bernadette. I made the decision to close my private practice to become part of a dedicated and compassionate team, united by the mission of making a meaningful impact in our community.
In my clinical practice, I use a variety of therapeutic techniques and am qualified to conduct Chemical Dependency Assessments and ODARAS (Ontario Domestic Assault Risk Assessments). My areas of expertise include crisis intervention, co-occurring disorders, and corrections-based counseling.
Outside of work, I’m a proud mom to four amazing boys who are the heart of my world. I love spending time outdoors—hiking, exploring Montana’s natural beauty—and traveling whenever I can. I remain deeply committed to the future of mental health in Butte and am honored to be part of this vital and evolving field.
